While I was driving my oldest to school today, I was thinking about all of the different hats people wear in a day. We have so many different roles that we need to be. Plus, this pandemic is not helping us do a hat purge. It is just adding to the collection!
Maybe you are a caregiver? A teacher? A bus driver/car pool driver? A maid? A housekeeper? A librarian? A snuggle buddy? A friend? A nurse? A wife? A husband? A cook? Whatever hat you wear, it is multiple different ones in a day and it is exhausting having that many hat changes!
So we need to remember to give ourselves a break! I do not know one person that can literally do it all and not be wore out by the end. We need to take time for ourselves. If we don’t, we will be too burnt out to productively do any of our roles. Yes, I am preaching to myself too!
Anyone who knows me personally, will tell you I am not the best at taking care of myself. I definitely put others and my family first. It is very difficult for me to think about myself and what I want/need. However, there are times I do get to my breaking point. I then tell my husband, I need just a few hours to myself! Once I get that time, I am good to go again.
What do you need that will help you refresh and feel amazing again? Shopping? A nap? A bath? Exercise? When you feel amazing, your family also benefits from it and they will feel amazing! So I encourage you to take some time for yourself. Find out what helps you feel refreshed!
