I have a super simple sugar cookie recipe, that I feel is not your typical sugar cookie. However, it is amazing!!!
Prewarning: these are very addictive and you need to prepare them in advance because they need to be chilled prior to baking. They also are not the healthiest cookie ever! I think that is what makes them amazing.
Are you ready to fall in love with these cookies? Good! I make mine in a Kitchen Aid mixer, but you are welcome to do it in any bowl as long as you use some type of mixer to prepare them.
Here is the recipe:
- 1 c. Butter, softened
- 1 c. White Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 2 c. All-Purpose Flour
- 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
- 2 tsp. Vanilla Flavoring
- 1/2 tsp. Salt
- 1/2 tsp. Cream of Tartar
Mix together the butter and sugar until mixed well. Then add the egg and mix that in. Slowly add the flour. Otherwise, you will have a crazy white mess everywhere! (Been here!) Now, add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
Form the dough into a roll. The size of the roll is how large your cookies will be. So make it as small or as thick as you want the cookies. After you have your roll, wrap it in wax paper. Then put the dough in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight.
Once the dough is chilled, slice it up (again as thick or thin as you want the cookies. I do about 1/4 inch thick.) and place on baking sheets.
Bake in a 350 degree oven for around 8 minutes or until they have slightly brown edges. Then enjoy once they cool!
